Abstract
Andrinette, a woman of color, seeks an injunction on the sale of her and her children as slaves and for acknowledgment of their free status. Andrinette "has been in the enjoyment of her freedom" since her birth. However, within the last few days, she and her children were "forcibly confined" and "placed into the hands of J. B. Beard & Co. auctioneers, for the purpose of being sold out as slaves" by Juliette Maran and J. B. Noble, free people of color. Andrinette asks for an injunction to stop the sale and for damages in the amount of $5,000.
