Hellen Burk, widow and administratrix of her husband John's estate, asks that the accounts for the estate of Daniel Gash be credited "for the Loss" of slave named Phill. Burk reports that her late husband was the administrator of Gash's estate. She further asserts that "a negro man named Phill" belonging to said estate ran away and "although a diligent search and enquiry was made, he [John Burk] never has yet been able to recover the said negro." The petitioner asks that the value of Phill "be deducted" from Gash's estate.
