Harry, George, Hesse, Jim, and Kate "respectfully Sheweth unto your honors, That they have long exercised the rights of freedom to which they justly & rightly have & ought to continue to enjoy unmolested." Citing that Robert McGill, executor of the estate of Benjamin Gaither, "is about to claim your petitioners as part of the estate of said Gaither," they pray to have "their claims established & their just rights fully & legally ascertained." They note that McGill's claim occurs "just as they are becoming useful, they are thus about to be used as slaves."
