Thomas Waddle, a "Black Man" and native of Virginia, states that he previously belonged to Samuel Haney of Virginia who imported him into Maryland "as a slave contrary to the laws of Maryland." Waddle says he is now claimed as a slave by both Haney and Robert Long of Baltimore. Waddle requests that Haney and Long answer these charges.
Result: Granted; appealed; judgment reversed.
