Abstract
Presly, a man of color, avows that "he is entitled to be free and at large but is unjustly held in slavery by a certain Otho Sprigg," the administrator of the estate of the late Thomas Sprigg. Presly claims he was brought into Maryland contrary to the laws of the state and he asks that Sprigg be subpoenaed and that he be discharged from Sprigg's service.
Result: Granted; appealed; reversed; remanded.
