Petition #20981410

Abstract

Dorothy and Henry Darnall, by their next friend Margaret Darnall, ask that the planned sale of thirty-four slaves in their estate by their guardian be disallowed. The petitioners state that their guardian, John Weeks, has taken possession of their property and plans a sale of their slaves. They contend that "no advantage can possibly flow" from a sale of the "young valuable negro slaves," which they believe "will be very prejudicial to the interest of your petitioners." In addition, Henry Darnall expressly desires to keep the slave Sam Wallace "who is a carpenter and shoemaker," along with Frank Wallace and his four children.
