Abstract
The "petition of Milly and her children Hannah and Washington, of Hannah and her children Henry, Joseph and Susan, Susan and her child Betty, and Fanny" state they are free under a deed of manumission but are detained in slavery by William Hughes. They ask that Hughes show cause as to why they should not be discharged from slavery.
Result: Granted; appealed; affirmed.
