John Dubernat, executor of the estate of the late Thomas Morderis [Mordier], states that a previous order of the court allowed Rosalia, a slave emancipated by Morderis and the mother of a young slave boy who belongs to the estate, six months to raise $75 security, "the price of the above negro Boy as regulated by the court." The petitioner has recently discovered that Rosalia has raised the $75 and that she plans to take the boy to Santo Domingo. Dubernat fears that if Rosalia takes the child to Santo Domingo, the $75 will be lost to the estate. Therefore, he asks the court's permission to sell the boy.
