Petition #20982611

Abstract

James Robinson of Greene County, Georgia executed a will in 1821, in which he devised a slave named Sophia to his minor nephew, also named James Robinson. John Walker took out letters of administration on the elder Robinson's property in Maryland and sold Sophia for approximately $200 to an unknown purchaser. The younger Robinson, by his guardian and next friend Daniel Sanford, claims the sale proceeds with interest from the time Walker passed his final estate account. Robinson and Sanford ask the court to subpoena Walker to answer the allegations and to award Robinson the money he claims.
