Petition #20982802

Abstract

George Sylvester Boone, the guardian of the infant children of the late Benjamin N. Mudd, and Ann Mudd, their mother, ask the Governor of Maryland to release two of their slaves from jail so that they may sell them outside of the state. The slaves, George and Abraham, were jailed for breaking and entering into the house of Zephariah Taylor and removing some of his property. The petitioners explain that they "entertain no doubt of the guilt of the said prisoners" and wish to have them sold beyond the limits of the state without "the delay and expence of having them tried."

Result: Granted.
