John Thomas and James Cheston, executors of the late James Dooley's estate, claim that George McNeir mortgaged two slaves to Dooley in order to cover a debt of $538.24, but that because of Dooley's ill health, the transaction has not yet been recorded. They ask the court to foreclose on the equity of redemption by a sale of the two slaves, Bill and Margaret, and to subpoena McNeir to answer their claims.
