Petition #20983111

Abstract

Richard M. Chase and Richard J. Crabb, the executors of the late Jeremiah T. Chase, petition the court regarding slaves in their testator's estate. The Farmers Bank of Maryland has won a large judgment against them as executors and the sheriff is about to enforce a levy on the slaves. In order "to Save delay and Expences, and the Hazards of their Escape," Chase and Crabb ask the court to authorize them to consent to an immediate private sale of the slaves by the sheriff.
