Petition #20983312

Abstract

The guardian of Robert Goodloe Harper requests that he be allowed to sell his ward's interest in the estate of Charles Carroll, deceased. The petitioner notes that on 10 May 1833 "this court passed a certain order authorizing and directing" the estate's administrator "to sell by private sale certain negroes belonging to the said deceased." The petitioner points out that young Robert "has thereby become interested in said negroes to the extent of one third of one third thereof," which amounts to the value of $2942.24. Charles Carroll Harper, as guardian, believes "that it would be greatly to the benefit of said ward that all his interest in the said slaves should be sold."
