Henry Hall, administrator of the estate of the late Mary H. Heath, asks that three slaves be stricken from the estate inventory. He explains that Annette and her two children, Beverly and a three-month-old baby boy, were originally included in the inventory of the estate, but "without any default or negligence" on his part, the slaves have never been in his possession. In fact, he claims that the slave family absconded from Mary Heath "in her lifetime with her consent under contract of sale with a negro man the husband of said Annette" and "are in Pennsylvania or Jersey." Hall maintains that he has "used reasonable diligence to have said negroes retaken," and he believes "there is no probability of their ever being apprehended."
