Petition #20983527

Abstract

William Lyon states that mother-in-law, Sarah Davis, died intestate in 1833, "possessed of several young negroes," and that Joannas Storke was granted letters of administration on Davis's estate. Claiming to be entitled to a one-sixth share of her estate, Lyon alleges that Storke has not "acted in good faith" as administrator. Specifically Lyon claims that Storke has not charged himself with the hires of the slaves, who were also "clothed at the expense of the estate," and he conjectures that Storke purchased a crop of tobacco from the estate for less than it was worth. Lyon asks that Storke be compelled to make an account of the estate and to credit the estate for these omissions.

Result: Partially granted.
