James Mason Campbell, administrator of the estate of the late Dorcas Sparks, asks to sell slaves belonging to the estate at a private sale in order to pay the estate's outstanding debts. He reasons that "the infant Agatha and the boy William from their tender years are a burthen to the Estate" and Ned, who is confined in "Mr. Slatters private jail at the Expence of the Estate," is likely to run away "if he be Set at liberty."
