Abstract
Thomas Winston declares that three slaves were left in his "friendly care and charge" when their owner and father, Benjamin Copper, a free person of color, went to Trinidad. Winston hired out the slaves to Patrick Gallagher, who paid their hire to the boys' mother, Caroline, also Benjamin's slave. Claiming that Gallagher has fraudulently indentured the boys to himself, Winston asks that Gallagher's indenture be annulled and revoked.
