Joshua Barlow states that George Pumphrey, a free person of color, was bound to him on 10 March 1836. Since that time, Pumphrey has run away and Barlow states "that it is impossible to keep him and that he is so well known that it is impossible to sell him to any person in Howard District." Barlow asks the court's permission to sell Pumphrey's time to George Dalton, a permanent resident of Baltimore City.
