Thomas J. Brice requests compensation for his losses incurred when his twenty-six-year-old term slave named Alfred ran away. Brice requests that the court extend Alfred's term of service as compensation. He also asks the court to grant him authorization to sell Alfred out of state. Brice purchased Alfred from the estate of the late Moses S. Lawrence, in whose service Alfred was to remain until 10 June 1856. Alfred is currently in Anne Arundel County jail.
