Ann Meyer asks for authorization to sell a sixteen-year-old male slave named Jo, bequeathed to her by Godfrey Meyer "for her use and benefit during her natural life." Ann acknowledges, however, that she has "no employment for said boy at this time" and fears that "he is in danger of falling into idle & vicious habits." She therefore feels it would be best to sell Jo at private sale and petitions the court for permission to do so.
