Petition #20985019

Abstract

Daniel Duvall reports that he purchased "a negro Boy by the name of Brice at and for the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars" from Stevens Gambrell after Brice's term of service had been extended due to "improper Conduct." Duvall claims that Brice is "totally intractable and unmanageable," stating that the slave has run away and "has been at Large" for several months. Duvall feels that he "cannot safely keep him in his Service" and therefore asks that he be allowed to extend the term of service and sell Brice within or without of the state.
