Susan Baldwin seeks compensation for "Losses Expenses and trouble" she incurred when her twenty-two-year-old term slave named Louis Purman ran away. Baldwin states that she has paid for Purman's release from jail on two occasions and has warned him of the consequences of his continued "notoriously vicious and turbulent" behavior. She asks that Purman's term of service be extended and for permission to sell him out of the state.
