Richard Tydings inherited a term slave named Hanson Watts by provision of the will of John Tydings. Watts ran away but was eventually captured and placed in the Baltimore jail. Tydings asks the court to extend Watts's term of service as compensation for the loss of Watts's labor and for the costs he has expended to retrieve the slave.
