Abstract
Dudley Joy, a slave belonging to John H. Hilliary, claims that he is currently confined to jail on a charge of "having entered Graham & Thrasher store through a window & opened the money drawer of said store." He asks for a writ of habeas corpus so that he may appear before the court and "thus have the opportunity of giving such bail."
