Benjamin Carr states that he is the owner of a female term slave named Martha. According to the will of Robert Carr, Martha is to remain in Benjamin's possession until 1866 when she will be thirty years old. Carr reports that during the past three years, Martha has run away giving Carr "a great deal of trouble, and subjecting him to a great deal of expense." With Martha currently in jail, Carr asks that her term of service be extended and that he be permitted to sell her out of the state.
