Sarah E. Childs, administratrix of the estate of her late husband, Jernningham D. Childs, submits that she has worked the land of her husband's estate with his stock and her slaves, with the exception of two slaves who belonged to the estate. Childs has sold all of the personal property of the estate, except for the two male slaves. The estate owes her $521.41 and the only way for the estate to pay this debt is "by sale of the Real Estate, which she does not wish to do." Childs asks that the appraisal values of the slaves be changed, thereby reducing the debt; this would allow her to charge the debt to her children, for whom she is guardian, and to reimburse herself with the proceeds from the real estate.
