Petition #20985609

Abstract

Francis B. Eoff of Baltimore County states that John Henry Doman, "a negro boy residing in said county is an orphan" and has no "visible means of support." Eoff fears "that from idleness & bad company he is contracting bad habits, & is likely to become a nuisance to the neighbourhood." The petitioner asserts that Doman's aunt, "a free negro woman," does not have the means to support him and "in fact she has no power over him or right to his services." Eoff also reports that Doman "goes about drinking" and has recently been arrested as a runaway. He asks the court to subpoena Doman, to notify his aunt, Sarah Hall, of this petition, and to "bind out said boy to some responsible person."
