Henry and Sally Hensly, free people of color, declare that their son, Perry, was bound to James Andrews as an apprentice without their consent or knowledge. Prior to being bound to Andrews, Perry had been hired out to him "for wages at 30$ per year." The petitioners charge that "they were abundantly able, at that time and still are to support the Boy and are not idle, vagrant or vagabond negroes but have always supported and clothed their children respectably." They ask that the indenture be cancelled.
