Nathaniel N. Brewer, administrator of the estate of the late Joseph N. Brewer, states that Charles, a slave owned by him and the deceased, is currently in jail for stealing a hog from Isaac Mayo. Mayo is threatening to have Charles "sent to the Penetintiary unless he is sold out of the State." Brewer would like authorization to sell Charles at a private sale.
