Abstract
William Watkins, the petitioner, asks the court to appeal an earlier case in which he is the defendant. He states that he does not believe the worth of the disputed property, exclusive of the slave, exceeds $450. He concedes that the slave may remain in the custody of his wife, Harriett Anne Watkins, until the case is finally resolved. He adds that the rent of the real estate that is part of his wife's dower does not exceed $150 per year.
