James B. Stockett states that his term slave named Tom "ranaway from him last summer for three weeks" and that "the Court prior to your election" extended his term one year. At that time, Tom promised "Mr. John W. Iglehart if he would screen him from a whipping he would serve me for two years more." Stockett asks that Tom's term be extended an additional year as promised by Iglehart.
