On 27 May 1858, the court passed a judgment granting Margery Wells, the complainant in an 1857 divorce case, a yearly stipend of $100, paid quarterly, from her husband, James H. Wells, a slaveholder. Margery states that her husband made payments for the first two quarters, but refuses to pay any more money. The petitioner asks the court to pass an order that would enforce its earlier decision.
