John T. Timanus reports "that he has been unable to sell out of the State his negro Man Cosmore Robinson." On 4 June 1861, the orphans court authorized Robinson's sale but Timanus has been "prevented by the Rebellion from making such sale." The petitioner further represents that "Robinson has twice run away lately." On both occasions, Timanus went to great expense to recover his slave. Timanus now believes "it is necessary to keep the said slave in confinement as he avails himself of every opportunity to run away." The petitioner asks the court to extend Robinson's term of service as compensation for the expenses he has incurred.
