Sadtler Deceased." They state that "among the personal estate of said Deceased was a Colored Boy, named Jacob," a term slave appraised at $600 in the estate inventory. The petitioners claim that Jacob was "Entirely unmanageable" and proceeded to hire him to Richard Swann at the Naval Academy at Annapolis. They report that Swann has offered to pay $250 for the balance of Jacob's term. The executors, "believing that said amount offered is now the full value of Said Boy," ask the court to approve the sale.
<subjects><subject>Insubordination</subject><subject>Management (enslaved)</subject><subject>Assessed Value (enslaved)</subject><subject>Term slavery</subject></subjects></petition>
