Petition #20986502

Abstract

On 14 February 1865, the Orphans Court for Baltimore County passed an order apprenticing George Norris, the young son of the petitioner to James Ramply. John Norris asserts that he is willing and able to support his son and has always been able to do so. In 1864 and 1865, Norris admits that he allowed his son to stay with and work for Ramply under the condition that Ramply would supply food and clothes for the child. He asserts, however, that he is "surely entitled to select to whom said George should be bound if approved by the Court," and Ramply is not a suitable choice. John Norris asks the court to annul the indenture and return his son to his custody.

Result: Dismissed.
