Abstract
Joseph Wallis states that, "on the night of the eleventh day of April AD 1846," sixteen slaves, to which he held "right and lawful claim," were "taken from his residence by force fraud or stratagem without due process of law" while "your Petitioner was asleep." Citing that said slaves "are now in Noxubee County Jail," the petitioner seeks a writ of habeas corpus.
