The petitioner states that "the Negro woman Caroline & her child has been placed on a cotton plantation in Madison Parish Louisiana" and that he has been reporting on the management of the slaves to the Madison Parish Probate Court. He further states that "Hanah and Amelia are of but little value," because Hanah "lost the use of her left hand & arm; and the other Amelia being only 7 years old." Hanah and Amelia are used only "as the nurses & personal attendants of said infant heirs."
