Petition #21084818

Abstract

Dabney Lipscombe, trustee for Martha W. Sharpe, "is desirous of surrendering his trusteeship." He relates that Starkey Sharpe appointed him and the late Richard Brownrigg trustees for property that he conveyed “in trust, to said Trustees for the use of the said Martha for her life & after her death to her said children," William B. and Ann E. Sharpe. Lipscombe further states that Martha has been in possession of said property and that "he believes that the same has been managed in accordance with the provisions of the deed." He informs the court that "one of the slaves named Isham, specified in the deed, became insubordinate & unruly & that he was exchanged by the said Martha with her son Elias Fort for a slave named Abram, who is more valuable than Isham." The petitioner prays that said exchange be confirmed and that the said Elias Fort be confirmed as trustee.
