Benjamin W. Trotter, administrator of Jane Jackson's estate, estimates that "his intestate died seized and possessed of several negroes, stock of cattle, horse and mule, hogs and farming implements and household furniture, all of which amount, in value to about the sum of $2680." He further states that "the debts due by said deceased amount, in the aggregate, to about the sum of seventeen or eighteen hundred dollars." The petitioner therefore asks that he be authorized "to sell at public auction all of the property ... for the purpose of paying the debts of said deceased and distributing the balance of the proceeds thereof among the heirs of said deceased."
