Unity E. Stevens and Mary A. Carroll join their respective husbands in asking for the appointment of commissioners to appraise and distribute the property in the estate of Joel Hill, their late father. The petitioners state that Hill left "a large personal estate of slaves, horses, mules, hogs, oxen wagons household and kitchen furniture." Noting that they are desirous to have their shares of said personal estate "into possession," they pray that each heir's share of said personal estate be ascertained, allotted and set off. The petitioners assert that "the proceeds of the cotton crop will nearly pay all the debts" of said their father.
