The petitioner reports that he gave the said Elizabeth three slaves "as her sole and separate property" and that she retained possession of said slaves until her death in 1852. Hoover states that said slaves are now in the possession of his son-in-law Christopher R. Wells, who has "received the proceeds of the labor of said slaves since the death of said Elizabeth" but has "failed to take out letters as guardian of the property of said children and inventory and return the same to your honorable Court." The petitioner therefore prays "your honor to appoint him or some other suitable person guardian to the end that the interest of said minor children in the property aforesaid may be protected."
<subjects><subject>Enslaver (minors)</subject><subject>Property owners (women)</subject></subjects></petition>
