Rachel Jane Boland, guardian of Rebecca A. and David W. Tillery, asks the court's permission to sell a slave woman named Ann because she "is old and of very little value to said Rebecca." Boland believes that the proceeds of the sale should be used for the purchase of "a young negro woman whose labor & increase will greatly promote her interest." Boland also asks to sell two other slaves, Aley and Wade, and to distribute the proceeds among the three rightful owners.
