Abstract
Martha Nance, widow of Simeon Nance and guardian of their children, states that she used "surplus funds on hand belonging to her wards" to purchase six slaves, "believing that it would promote their interest to invest the same in negro slaves having the land on which they could be profitably employed." Nance now prays that an order issue “authorizing your petitioner to make title to said wards of said described Negro Slaves."
