Petition #21085913
- Washington County, Mississippi. May 31, 1859. - November 12, 1868.
- Court: District
- Salutation: To the Honorable Jacob S Yerger Judge of the third Judicial District of the state of Mississippi in chancery for the county of Washington
Abstract
John Penrice, guardian of Katie Knox Sikens, states that Thomas J. Sikens bequeathed several slaves to his daughter Katie. Penrice complains that Robert Marsh has possession of three of the said slaves, claiming to have purchased Jim, Hezekiah, and Marshall from the administrator of Sikens's estate. The petitioner charges that said sale was not valid and that the said three slaves are the property of his ward Katie Sikens, "the sole heir at law" of the said Thomas. The petitioner therefore prays that said slaves be sequestered until the issue can be settled.
Result: Dismissed.
