Petition #21085923

Abstract

Wile B. Dortch, executor of the estate of Aron Brown, states that Brown, who at the time of his death was a resident of Tennessee, owned a plantation in Lowndes County with a large number of slaves. Recognizing that "either the land or the negroes, should be sold to pay off the debts of the estate," Dortch discloses that the heirs wish "to keep the slaves and sell the land, as they have more valuable land out of the State on which they desire to work said slaves." The petitioner therefore prays that an order issue authorizing the sale of the land in order to satisfy the debts of said estate.
