Lucy Ann Bishop, administratrix of the estate of Gabriel L. Bishop, states that "in the lifetime of the said Gabriel L. Bishop deceased he was in copartnership with one Henry Bishop in a large number of slaves." She further asserts that "she is anxious to reduce to possession the undivided one half interest of the said Gabriel L Bishop decd to said slaves ... so that she can settle the affairs of said estate with the said Probate Court." Bishop therefore prays that court-appointed commissioners will "value divide and allott the said negro slaves ... between the said Henry Bishop and your oratrix as administratrix."
