Abstract
Jack, a man of color, avers that his former owner, Eusebus Hubbard, signed and sealed "a certain instrument in writing" whereby he became free upon Hubbard's death. Noting that Barnabas Harris now holds him as a slave, Jack prays "such order may be taken to enable him to recover his freedom as the law directs."
