Abstract

Arch, a man of color, avers that his former owner, Eusebus Hubbard, signed and sealed a certain "instrument in writing" whereby he became free upon Hubbard's death. Noting that Barnabas Harris now holds him as a slave, Arch prays "your honor to make such order in his behalf to enable him to sue for his freedom as the law requires."
