Abstract
Squire Brown states that his former owner, Henry Brown, hired him out to work in Illinois several times, for several months at a time, between 1839 and 1841. In May 1841, William C. Anderson bought Squire Brown from Henry Brown. Squire asks permission to sue as a poor person "to establish the right of your petitioner to freedom."
Result: Petition granted; plea of trespass filed, dismissed.
