Abstract
Married in 1799, Anne Wilson files for divorce after a two-year separation from her husband. She charges that William Wilson ordered "a negro woman whom he owned to inflict blows on her person," and kept another black woman as his mistress, "indulging himself in sexual intercourse" in the very bed "which she was in the habit of sleeping." She asks the court to award her certain property, including slaves.
